Cyber Security Awareness Trainings are trainings organized for academic and administrative personnel of our university. Such trainings are a step towards ensuring the data security of our university by increasing the level of knowledge of the staff about digital security.

Information Gathering and Basic Network Workshop Program Announcement

A workshop on the topic “Information Gathering and Basic Network” will be organized by the 2nd-year students of the Cybersecurity Vocational School. The participants will:

  • Gain knowledge about the basic methods and tools used in information gathering processes,

  • Acquire basic network knowledge,

  • Develop awareness about the importance of identifying and analyzing target systems in cybersecurity.

Cyber Security Talks – Mr. Mehmet Emre ATEŞ

We held the third session of the Cyber Security Talks organized by our Cyber Security Vocational School. This week’s guest speaker was Mr. Mehmet Emre ATEŞ, Manager of Secure Information Technologies at Barikat Cyber Security.

Mr. Mehmet Emre ATEŞ shared insights on the importance and awareness of information security. He discussed his career journey and how his interest in information security began. He emphasized the key areas to focus on in the field of information security and highlighted the importance of raising awareness in this area. Additionally, he provided valuable advice to our audience based on his strategic approaches and industry experiences.

The session continued with a Q&A segment, allowing our participants to ask Mr. ATEŞ their questions. Mr. ATEŞ answered the participants’ questions, sharing his views and experiences with us.

The Cyber Anatolian Communities Visited Our Vocational School!

As Ankara University Cyber Security Vocational school, we hosted guests from the Cyber Anatolian Communities, who are active in the field of cyber security.

Cyber Anatolian is an active community that brings together cyber security clubs from various universities, organizing training sessions, seminars, and competitions in this field. Their mission is to raise awareness among students about cyber security issues, encourage knowledge and experience sharing, and cultivate individuals with a conscious understanding of the sector. Their vision is to train leading students in the field of cyber security, contribute to the development of domestic and national products, and become a nationally recognized reference point through research and development efforts.

During the visit, Cyber Anatolian presented examples of their current projects and organized events. These projects included efforts aimed at developing innovative solutions in the field of cyber security and providing practical experience to students. Discussions were held on potential future collaborations, addressing topics such as joint projects, training programs, and upcoming events. At the end of the event, during the question and answer session, participants had the opportunity to ask questions they were curious about to the representatives of Cyber Anatolian. We extend our gratitude to the Cyber Anatolian Communities for this visit.

A Technical Visit to STM (Defense Technologies and Engineering Inc.) was Organized!

We organized a technical visit to STM (Defense Technologies and Engineering Inc.) company. During this approximately 3-hour event, participants were provided with informative training on various topics. STM’s expert teams conducted presentations on SoC (Security Operations Center), cyber intelligence, and malware analysis. Additionally, important Kali Linux tools such as DNS Resolver, Sub Domain Finder, and identifying domain-associated emails were introduced to the participants.

We would like to thank all the students and faculty members who attended this meaningful event and hope to come together again in similar events to be organized in the future.

Our Students Attended the Hacktrick Event

Our students attended the 8th Hacktrick Cyber Security Conference, hosted by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (Bilgi Teknolojileri ve İletişim Kurumu, BTK) this year. This event provided our students with the opportunity to develop themselves in the field of cyber security, meet key figures in the industry, and gain the most up-to-date information.

A visit to our school by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Digital Transformation Office

The Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Digital Transformation Office visited our Vocational School. The event, which introduced companies operating within the scope of cybersecurity clustering, provided a great opportunity for students, while also showcasing the innovations and opportunities in the sector.

As part of the event, leading companies such as Labris Networks, Havelsan, and Barikat Cyber Security introduced themselves as part of the Cybersecurity Cluster, sharing their expertise and solutions in the field of cybersecurity.

The event, which also received great interest from the students, continued in an interactive question-and-answer format. Participants asked company representatives their questions about cybersecurity and received information about career opportunities in the field. Afterward, attendees departed with their developed insights and the knowledge they had gained from the event.

Cyber Security Talks – Mr. Burak DAYIOĞLU

We held the second session of the Cybersecurity Talks organized by our Cybersecurity Vocational School. Our guest for the session was Mr. Burak DAYIOĞLU, the founder of Atar Labs. DAYIOĞLU shared valuable insights about his resume and life experiences. He explained how his interest in cybersecurity began and shared his experiences in the industry, providing us with insights on how to succeed. Additionally, he delivered inspiring speeches based on his own experiences to motivate our audience and offered strategic perspectives on entrepreneurship and investment.

During the question-and-answer session that followed, our participants had the opportunity to ask their questions. Mr. DAYIOĞLU sincerely answered the questions from the participants and shared his insights with us.

Visit to Our School by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology and our Rector of Ankara University

Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Zekeriya Çoştu and our Rector, Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar from Ankara University, came together for an important visit at the opening of the R&D Incubation Center, which will also include the Cyber Security Vocational School. Within this context, Mr. Coştu and our Rector visited our Cyber Security Vocational School and acquired important information about our school.

During their visit, detailed information about our school’s educational opportunities and project activities, along with future goals in the field of cybersecurity, was provided.

This significant visit will enable closer collaboration and joint project development with valuable stakeholders of our school. We extend our gratitude to Mr. Coştu and our Rector for their kind visit.

Who is Burak DAYIOĞLU?
Dayıoğlu, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Hacettepe University in 1998 and a master’s degree in Computer Engineering from METU in 2002, founded Turkey’s leading cyber security integrator, Innovera, in 2007. After bringing two partners to his company in 2015, Dayıoğlu founded Atar Labs in 2016. He sold these companies to Micro Focus and Cyberwise in 2020 and 2021, respectively, and has since continued his professional career as an angel investor and advisor.

Cyber Security Talks – Ms. Duygu FİDANCIOĞLU

Ankara University Cyber Security Vocational School held the first session of its “Cyber Security Talks” program aimed at increasing awareness in the industry and providing students with more comprehensive information about the sector. The inaugural guest of the program was Ms. Duygu FİDANCIOĞLU, the Director of the Cyber Security Unit at the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Digital Transformation Office. FİDANCIOĞLU provided important insights into the establishment processes of Cyber Security Vocational Schools in Türkiye and shared detailed information about the field of Cyber Security and the Vocational School during the question-and-answer session with the participants.

The program addressed important topics such as the founding story of Cyber Security Vocational Schools, employment opportunities for graduates, and their future plans. Additionally, detailed information was provided about critical roles such as Cyber Security Analysts and Operators, including their functions and responsibilities. Graduating students were also informed about the demand and job opportunities in the sector. The program effectively communicated by providing detailed information about the support and career opportunities available throughout the education process. The last part of the session proceeded in a question-and-answer format, where participants directed their questions to both Ms. Fidancıoğlu and our Vocational School, receiving detailed answers.

OLLE Company Visit

Our Cyber ​​Security Vocational School students continue to actively participate in company visits organized within Ankara University Technopark. Most recently, our students met with OLLE company during the company visits in Technopark to receive information about the company’s cybersecurity efforts. These visits not only provide our students with theoretical knowledge but also offer them the opportunity to observe practical experiences in the industry up close.

A Tree Planting Event Held at Our Vocational School

At our Cyber Security Vocational School, students and academic staff came together for a tree planting event with the aim of increasing environmental awareness and contributing to nature.

Ankara University Teknokent General Manager M. Güray DEĞERLİ attended our event, providing students with information and advice, and expressed his gratitude to the students for their participation.

The Cyber Security Vocational School family aims to contribute to a sustainable future by enhancing our environmental awareness through the steps taken to leave a greener world for future generations.
